FCFpens Spotlight

This big Kahuna pen with handcrafted Teak burl polished to a high luster is accented with Gold Titanium fittings.

Teak Burl Gold Titanium Kahuna Pen

Teak is a large tree native to South East Asia including India and China. A true hardwood, it is resistant to weather and disease. This makes Teak burl even more rare, as the marbled grain of burl wood is created by disease, damage or infection. Teak became rare in the 1950's and 1960's due to it's extensive use in Danish Modern furniture popular during that time. It has seen a resurgence now that forestry plantations have been established devoted to it's cultivation and harvest.

New Zealand Rewarewa Gold Titanium Kahuna Pen

Rewarewa is found throughout the lowland forests of the North Island, and the Marlborough Sounds of the South Island, New Zealand. Scientific species name: Knightia Excelsa. Named after the botanist Thomas Knight who was once President of the London Horticultural Society. Sometimes called New Zealand honeysuckle because of it's amazing flowers which have long dark red spikes with as many as 80 flowers per bud. Rewarewa is also called the "bucket of water tree" because the cut wood is too wet to be used as firewood. The cross cut speckled timber is a highly prized, beautifully figured ornamental wood.

African Pink Ivory Gold Titanium Kahuna Pen

Known as the "royal wood" of the Zulus. Pink Ivory is found predominantly in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. It's a small tree which grows to a height of only 20 to 40 feet. Due to it's small size and high demand, and to keep it's sustainability, special permits are required to harvest the wood. The outer sapwood has a creamy straw color which turns to a rich pink to red the closer to the heartwood core. Pink Ivory polishes to an incredible shine.
